ABOUT THE ARTIST
Michele Hoben is a contemporary artist whose work is rooted in a lifelong passion for creativity and visual arts. Since the beginning of her professional journey, Michele has remained deeply committed to exhibiting and growing as an artist. Her work has been selected for numerous curated exhibitions and has received multiple awards. Her paintings have been exhibited in local galleries, cultural spaces, hospitals, libraries, and juried shows throughout New England. Currently her paintings are available through select retail and gallery venues.
She continues her daily art practice in her personal studio in East Providence Rhode Island. Michele’s sculptural materials range from found objects, metal, plaster, cement, paper and fabric. Sculptures range in sizes from 1’ to 5’ and 1lbs to 250lbs. These figurative deconstructive objects demonstrate the artists’ courage of exploration. Hoben also continues to explore the medium of acrylic and oil paint. These paintings are rich in colors, found in her many experimental processes with brushstrokes controlled and deliberate, from loose to careless. Her paintings range from 5” x 7” to 48”x 54”. She delivers a story amongst the collections with words, mark making and layers of many mediums. Described as complicated but yet simple in composition. Testing life’s boundaries, she is described as a true artist, authentic, courageous, provoked and mindful.
She is passionate about culture, mental health, social justice and human rights.
Michele’s interests are tennis, cycling, furniture design, travel, music, real estate and architecture. She was dedicated restaurant owner in Boston for over 20 years and a mother of two. Open conversations about any of her interests and art is encouraged.
